Three Injured; Two Air-Lifted Following Sunday Morning Wreck in Centre / UPDATED

Sunday 4Three individuals were injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning on the Chestnut Bypass in Centre.

A 1989 Ford Ranger pickup overturned at the intersection of North River Street and County Road 26 – at around 10:00am – entrapping the occupants.

The victims, 46 year old Virginia Edgeworth and 28 year old Misty Jacobs – both of Centre – were extricated by the Cherokee County Rescue Squad.

Edgeworth was flown to Huntsville Hospital by LifeSaver Helicopter, and Jacobs was taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga via LifeForce Helicopter.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2001 Honda Accord – was identified as 72 year old Reba Carpenter of Rome, Georgia; she was transported to Cherokee Medical Center for treatment

No additional information regarding the extent of anyone’s injuries has been released.

Those responding to the scene included the Centre Police and Fire Departments, Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad.
