Two Airlifted In Three Car Crash Near The State Line On Friday

Three people were injured following a three car crash on Highway 411 near the Alabama/Georgia line just before 5:30 Friday evening.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency the accident involved a 2015 Hyundai driven by 27 year old Josh Bannister of Centre, a 2009 Lexus driven by 51 year old Annette Coleman of Gadsden and a 2015 Mazda driven by 26 year old Michael Baker of Gadsden.

Bannister was airlifted from the scene to a local trauma center. Coleman  had to be extricated from her vehicle by McCords Firefighters and was also airlifted to a local trauma center, a passenger in her vehicle identified as 62 year old Barbara Culp of Altoona was taken by EMS ground units to a nearby hospital. Baker was not injured.

McCord’s Fire Department Chief Rich Lindsey said he would like to thank all those responding for their quick actions and teamwork to deal with the situation and ensure the victims involved received the best possible patient care.

According to state troopers all occupants involved were wearing a seatbelt.

The McCords Fire Department, Cherokee EMS, Cherokee County Rescue Squad personnel, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Cave Spring Engine 16 and Redmond EMS units responded to the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
