Two Arrested For Meth Possession Following Routine Traffic Stop

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, on Friday deputies seized almost $2,000 in cash and approximately 20 grams of what appeared to be methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

While on routine patrol in the Cedar Bluff area, Deputy Jeremy Stepps observed a vehicle being driven erratically on Alabama Highway 9. After he stopped the vehicle, he observed drug paraphernalia inside the car.

 

The driver, 55 year-old Mary Duke Barnwell and the passenger, Rodney Clark, 58, both of Piedmont were taken into custody. After arriving at the detention center, corrections officers discovered more methamphetamine hidden on Barnwell’s body, which resulted in additional charges for her.

Meth05.11.15.1Barnwell was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and promoting prison contraband. Clark was booked for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to distribute.
