UPDATE / Two Arrested in Connection with Apparent Murder of Missing Woman

Murder Marshall CountyTwo people have been arrested in Florida, in connection with the murder of a sixty year old Marshall County woman.

Both 21 year old Elizabeth Dawn Austin and Curtis Lee Austin were arrested late Tuesday – in Panama City Beach; they stand accused of fleeing the crime.

CarranzaRemains believed to be those of missing Marshall County woman, Judith McElroy Carranza, were found Tuesday evening near Cove Springs Road in the Aurora community, in a remote portion of northeastern Etowah County.

Marshall County authorities say the cause of death has yet to be fully determined, and they are awaiting results from the autopsy. According to Bay County jail personnel, the warrant for Curtis Austin lists a charge of murder by strangulation – while the warrant for Elizabeth Austin lists a charge of murder.

The pair will reportedly be extradited back to Alabama within the next few days.

No additional information regarding the case is being released at this time.
