Two people were arrested on possession charges in Cherokee County Wednesday.

Brandy Jo Cobb, age 34 of Centre, was charged with the Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance, with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and with the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Meanwhile, Carey Ruth Popham, 38 of Lindale, Georgia was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

According to Leesburg Police Chief Lanny Ransum, both were arrested by Leesburg Officer Joe Johnson as the result of an on-going investigation into the activities of Cobb.

Both Cobb and Popham were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center, at around 4:30pm, where they remain awaiting setting of bond.
