Two Now Charged with Murder in Connection with Death of Gary Lee Willis

Additional charges have now been filed against three individuals, who had been charged with the kidnapping of 38 year old Gary Lee Willis of Boaz; the body of Willis had been found inside the remains of a burned vehicle, found on DeKalb County Road 135 on December 17th – an autopsy later revealed that he had been shot multiple times.

WAFF TV48 is reporting that two of those arrested, Christopher Todd Cagle & Stanley Townsel, Jr., have been charged with Murder in addition to Kidnapping 2nd Degree meanwhile Delia May Downs has been charged with Hindering Prosecution and Kidnapping 2nd Degree.

Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls said Thursday that the new charges were filed after meeting with District Attorney Steve Marshall; he said the investigation continues, and a grand jury could possibly consider upping the charges to Capital Murder in the future.

Cagle, Townsel and Downs all remain in the Marshall County Jail on bond of one million dollars each.
