Two Charged with Trafficking In Heroin

According to information contained in a recent News Release issued by the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, two individuals have been arrested and charged with Trafficking in Heroin in Etowah County.

Around 2:00am Attalla Police Officers Seth Benfield and Jacob Watkins noticed a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business which was closed for the night. 

They confronted the two occupants of the vehicle, identified as 42 year old David Camp of a Gadsden address, and 23 year old Winter Lauderdale of Albertville.

It was quickly learned that Lauderdale had a warrant for her arrest from the Albertville PD.

A search of their vehicle resulted in the seizure of over four-and-a-half grams of heroin, two small bags of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a small caliber pistol.

At that point, an Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Officer was called to the scene, and both Camp and Lauderdale were charged with Trafficking in Heroin two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

Additional charges could be forthcoming regarding the firearm which was seized.

Both were transported to the Etowah County Detention Center where they remain with the bond for each having been set at $50,000.

The investigation into the matter is on-going.
