Two Dead In Early Morning Home Invasion In Eastern Calhoun County

Two people are dead following a home invasion earlier today in eastern Calhoun County. According to Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade a man and his grandson were shot and killed at their home on Rabbittown Road.

Sheriff Wade said that the victim’s wife called 911 just after 4:00 a.m. reporting that someone had broken into their home.

The intruders shot and killed 73 year old Travis Frost and 23 year old Joshua Moody, they were pronounced dead at 5:15 a.m. by Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown.

Fortunately Frost’s wife was able to hide in a bedroom and was unharmed.

Sheriff Wade says that a vehicle that was also stolen from the home was recovered this morning in Piedmont and was being examined by forensics investigators with JSU’s Center for Applied Forensics.

At this time there are no suspects in custody in relation to the case. We will have additional information as soon as it is available from the Sheriff’s Office.
