Two people were killed in a Chattooga County house fire during the early morning hours of Monday.
The fire, which occurred just after 5:00am at a home located on 9th Street in Trion, claimed the lives of 50 year old Cornejo Lopez and 22 year old Christian Pruitt.
The bodies have been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
Insurance and Fire Investigator Ralph Hudgins said an investigation revealed that the blaze resulted from an electrical malfunction in a space heater.
Hudgins said this brings the total of fire deaths in the state of Georgia to 94 this year and he reminds everyone to make sure they have working smoke alarms throughout their home.
