Two Fatally Injured in Automobile Accidents in DeKalb County

A DeKalb County woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday.

32 year old Leanne Ivy, a resident of Ider – was killed when the vehicle she was riding in left the roadway and struck a tree; she was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by 29 year old Franklin Blevins of Ft Payne, who was injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred at 2:39am on County Road 295 approximately two miles east of Ft Payne.

The accident report indicated that Ivy was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The cause of that wreck remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.

A single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a DeKalb County man.

According to the Jacksonville Post of the Alabama State Troopers, 31 year old Nelson Avendano of Ft Payne was fatally injured at around 9:00pm Monday – when the vehicle he was driving, left the roadway and struck a tree.

That wreck took place on County Road 515 about three miles north of Rainsville.

According to the accident report, seat belts were not in use.

That accident remains under investigation.
