Two Gadsden Residents Charged With Trafficking And Distribution Of Methamphetamine And Methadone

gadsdendrugarrestsOn Friday,  agents arrested two individuals involved in the distribution and trafficking of illegal drugs in Etowah County.  

The arrest took place after a search warrant was executed at 474 Pulltight Rd  in Gadsden. During the search, trafficking weight of methamphetamine (approximately 6 ounces) and trafficking weight methadone was recovered. Also, $2190 and a 9mm handgun were recovered from the residence.

Those arrested included 30 year old  Michael Lavonta McKinney of 474 Pulltight Rd, Gadsden and 36 year old Carrie Fay Drake of 945 Ward Rd, Gadsden.

Drake is on probation for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Both are charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and  trafficking in methadone. In addition, McKinney was charged with 2 counts of distribution of a controlled substance being methamphetamine.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges related to the firearms in each case are expected.  They both remain in jail under a $50, 000 cash bond.

The agencies involved in the arrests are ECDEU, Etowah County Sheriff’s Department, Gadsden Police Department Special Projects Team, FBI Safe Street Task Force, and the Alabama National Guard Counter-drug Program.
