Two Hurt in Saturday Collision at Cedar Bluff Bridge

Bridge 2

The accident report regarding a two-vehicle wreck occurring at the Cedar Bluff Bridge over the weekend has now been released.

According to the report, 30 year old Joshua Dane Southworth of Tyler, Texas driving a 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 was turning right onto Highway 9 from Highway 68 while a 2015 Kia Soul driven by Charles Henry Jacobs, age 70 from Centre, was traveling southbound on Highway 9 toward Centre. The Jacobs vehicle had already passed the intersection where the lanes of Highways 9 and 68 merge and according to reports his vehicle was struck on the passenger side rear by the Dodge Ram.

The impact caused the Kia to hit the guard rail on the right hand side of the road and at that point the car overturned, skidding along the rail before finally landing right-side up. It then slid down the bank backwards – eventually coming to a stop after crashing into a tree at the bottom of the bank.

Both Jacobs and a passenger in the Kia, 66 year old Ruby Grace Jacobs, were transported by EMS Ground for treatment following the accident, which took place Saturday afternoon just after 5:00.
