Two Individuals From Indiana Arrested In DeKalb County On Drug Charges

DeKalb County Drug Arrest 06.28.2014DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris says that two individuals from Indiana have been arrested on a laundry list of drug charges after investigators went to a residence on County Road 352 to conduct an interview on a theft case.

Once on the scene near Fyffe, officers observed marijuana growing and located other drug paraphernalia. Two suspects were detained and it was determined they both had outstanding felony warrants from Indiana.

During a further search of the residence, officers located a meth lab and chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Joseph Johnson, 34 and Tonya Caves, 37 both of Indiana, were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Manufacturing 2nd, and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance.

A rifle was also taken from the scene by investigators. Johnson is also being held on the outstanding warrants for Failure to Appear on numerous drug charges.

Caves is wanted for probation violation in Indiana. Both are currently being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Harris states “I’m glad to have these people off the street. They came here from Indiana to avoid drug charges and started right up with a meth lab and growing pot. These officers did a good job of being aware of their surroundings in making this case.”
