Two Sentenced on Counterfeiting Charges

ROME - Funny Money CaseTwo of four men who entered guilty pleas to federal counterfeiting charges were sentenced in U.S. District Court in Rome on Friday (August 22nd).

Both Jason Nathanial Wooten and Jordan Dwight Conaway were indicted last November for allegedly passing counterfeit money at Rome area businesses during May of 2011.

Judge Harold Murphy sentenced Conaway to 12 months and one day on each count, to run concurrently; under those terms he could be released early for good conduct.

Conaway was also ordered to undergo three years of supervised release – and perform 100 hours of community service in lieu of a fine.

He will report to begin serving his sentence on September 30th.

Wooten was sentenced to 21 months on each count to run concurrently, and to three years of supervised release. He’ll be credited for 358 days already served on a state sentence; he is currently incarcerated in a state facility on a bond revocation.

Sentencing for Christopher Roy Brown and James William Lupo has been slated for October 17th.
