The manhunt involving law enforcement from both DeKalb and Cherokee Counties came to an end just before 9:30 Sunday morning, at a location off County Road 47 in the community of Tucker’s Chapel, just inside the Cherokee County line.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris told WEIS Radio News, his department was looking for 32 year old Doug Minor & 36 year old Norma Jo Grinnell, following the discovery of a body in DeKalb County early Saturday morning.

Sheriff Harris said that his department received a report about 4:00am, of an unresponsive female at a home on County Road 127 (Jennings Road), on Lookout Mountain; they arrived to find the lifeless body of Bobbie Lynn Ross who resided with Minor at the address. Minor was nowhere to be found and a search was initiated for both he and Grinnell with the pair being described as “persons of interest” in connection with the death.

Harris said it’s believed that both parties were at the home when the death occurred.

It was quickly determined that the two were traveling in a white 1998 Ford Ranger pickup outfitted with a homemade bumper.

They reportedly made their way to Cherokee County where Minor approached the home of a relative around 10:00 that (Saturday) night.

He was met at the door by the homeowner, who was armed, and was told to leave. He apparently later went into a chicken house on the property – where he and Grinnell were finally taken into custody by Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and local law enforcement; when officers arrived at the scene Grinnell surrendered – while Minor bolted from the back of the structure and ran – but was quickly apprehended.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris told WAFF TV48 that it initially appeared that Grinnell was a suspect in the case; however it seems she may have been a victim as well:

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 35 year old Bobbie Lynn Ross continues.

District Attorney Mike O’Dell has reportedly advised that Assault, and Kidnapping, charges be brought against Minor with more charges pending following the outcome of an autopsy being performed on the body of Ross.
