Additional details have been released regarding the deaths of two people in an East Gadsden motel room over the weekend.

According to a news release from Gadsden Police, on Saturday at around 12:30 pm, Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to serve drug-related felony warrants on 26-year old Sasha Nicole Tarvin of Attalla in room #135 at the Holiday Host Motel located at 2464 East Meighan Blvd.

The room was occupied by Tarvin and her boyfriend, 36-year old Justin Scott Colvin of Gadsden.

Deputies knocked and made verbal contact with Tarvin and then heard a gunshot come from inside the room.

The deputies backed off, called for backup and set up a perimeter. Several minutes later, officers heard a second gunshot inside the room.

They called the Joint Special Operations Group and hostage negotiators to the scene.

After further attempts to contact anyone inside the room failed, JSOG team members entered and found Tarvin dead in the bathroom from a gunshot wound to her head and Colvin critically injured from a self inflicted gunshot wound to his head, lying on the floor in front of the bathroom door.

Colvin was rushed to Gadsden Regional Medical Center where he died a couple of hours later.

Detectives believe there is a strong possibility that Tarvin committed suicide and then Colvin used the same gun to shoot himself.

It was first thought that he might have shot her, then turned the gun on himself.

Autopsies on both individuals will hopefully help provide clarification.
