Valley Head High School Student Arrested For Being Under The Influence Of And In Possession Of A Controlled Substance At School

A Valley Head High School student has been arrested for being under the influence of and in possession of a controlled substance while at school on Wednesday.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris school faculty noticed 18 year old Dakota Hicks, 18 of Valley Head acting unusual, so they notified the School Resource Officer about his behavior.

School Resource Officers found a substance on his person at which time the Drug Task Force was called.

When Drug Task Force Agents arrived, Hicks was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia.

Hicks was transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Sheriff Harris praised the faculty at the school for doing an outstanding job on noticing the difference of behavior in Hicks. As Sheriff Harris has stated on several occasions this arrest shows the importance of a School Resource Officers in the Schools – DeKalb County now has them in 10 of their County Schools.
