Valley Head Woman Charged with Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance

GravittA search of a DeKalb County home has resulted in the resident being arrested on drug charges – and a child being removed from the home afterwards.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said deputies responded to calls from concerned citizens – stating that they suspected drug activity at a home located on County Road 9049 in Valley Head.

Deputies along with Alabama State Troopers went to the residence and they obtained consent to search the premises – where they found a meth lab and materials to make meth.

The Drug Task Force and DHR workers were called to the home, with DHR removing the small child found at the residence, from the scene.

The child was reportedly placed with a family member.

37 year old Sherry Denise Gravitt – was arrested on charges of the Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Gravitt remains in the DeKalb County Center awaiting setting of bond.
