Weiss Lake Channel Marker Maintenance and Repair Project is Now Underway

Weiss 1Richard Green is a Weiss Lake Improvement Association Board Member (WLIA) and the Director of the Weiss Lake Channel Marker Maintenance and Repair Project.

Green states “The original markers are in need of maintenance, the condition of the channel markers is presenting a safety issue for boaters.”

This WLIA funded project includes straightening the leaning poles and replacing signs where needed.

Weiss 2Green explains, “Approximately eighteen (18) poles/signs have been identified as in need of repair. They are located in Little River, the Main Coosa Channel and the Chattooga. After the completion of this project, if you see any channel markers that are “out of whack”, please contact WLIA, if funding is available we’ll do our best to get the marker straightened. Thanks to H & H Pile Drivers for taking on this community minded project.”

WLIA is once again proving that they are fulfilling their mission to maintain, protect and enhance the quality of Weiss Lake, AL and its fisheries for today’s and future generations to enjoy. For more information regarding WLIA, please visit our website at or FB at Weiss Lake Improvement. Or better yet, join us at our meeting the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 at the Cedar Bluff Community Bldg. to see how you can get involved.
