Due to the recent heavy rains – Alabama Power will continue operating spillway gates at several locations including Weiss Lake.
The rain has caused lake levels to rise at some Alabama Power reservoirs and Weiss Lake is now slightly above its summer pool elevation of 564 feet – but should remain below 565 feet.
Cherokee County residents could see some water on roadways surrounding the lake.
Alabama Power will continue to monitor conditions on the lakes – and they would like to remind all individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities to be alert to changing conditions and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
