Winn-Dixie Employee Fired for Stealing More Than $6,000 From the Store

Winn Dixie - Shelton

Where there’s a will, there’s a way – and when there’s a crime, there’s a jail cell waiting for you.

Late last week – Stephanie Brooke Shelton of Anniston, age 26, turned herself in at the Anniston Police Department, and was charged with felony first degree theft, in connection with the theft of more than $6,000 from her workplace.

On September 9th, employees with the Winn-Dixie Supermarket on Golden Springs Road filed a police report stating that they had noticed discrepancies in their audits – and an investigation into the matter showed that Shelton had been creating fake returns and pocketing the money.

Surveillance footage showed her making the transactions; the scam had been going on for around five months.

According to the Anniston Star, a warrant was issued for Shelton’s arrest on September 13th, and she was fired from Winn-Dixie following the investigation.

Shelton has since been released from the Anniston City Jail on $5,000 bond; and a court date has been set for October 21st in that case.
