Woman Charged with Vehicular Homicide Following Fatal Crash / UPDATED

Russell 3The woman who crashed her vehicle head-on into another vehicle over the weekend – killing the pastor of Thankful Baptist Church in Rome, Georgia – has been charged with vehicular homicide first degree.

55 year old Rev. Nim Russell and his wife Julia were traveling east on Georgia 140 Sunday night when a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup being driven by 47 year old Michelle Blum of Adairsville, crossed the centerline near the Bartow/Floyd County line and collided with Russell’s Mercedes.

The reverend was fatally injured; his wife, according to the church’s Facebook page, continues to recover from her injuries.

Both Blum and a passenger in her vehicle were taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.

Russell had attended a special gathering, celebrating his 23rd anniversary at the Thankful Baptist Church, earlier that same day.

In addition to vehicular homicide Blum was charged with driving under the influence and serious injury by vehicle along with driving on the wrong side of the road and driving without headlights
