Woman Narrowly Escapes Serious Injury After Being “Clipped” by Passing Vehicle on Highway 9

Accident 20In a somewhat bizarre series of events, a Piedmont woman was “clipped” by a vehicle as she was trying to get help, after being involved in a single-vehicle accident just moments before

According to information provided by emergency personnel on the scene, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, 32 year old Cassandra Barnett’s 2002 Jeep had gone down an embankment on Highway 9 at approximately 2:15am; she had made her way back up the embankment to the road and was apparently in the process of walking for help when she was “clipped” by the side view mirror of a 1999 GMC, being driven by 58 year old Troy Stahley of Cedar Bluff, at 2:20am.

Another driver behind Barnett’s vehicle had seen her go off the roadway, and had gone to a nearby home for help, but the second accident occurred before he was able to make it back to the location to offer assistance.

Barnett was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

No additional information regarding the extent of her injuries has been made available and the cause of the initial accident remains under investigation by state troopers.
