Woman Pulled From Coosa River After Apparently Jumping From Meighan Bridge

Authorities are stating that a Gadsden woman was pulled from the Coosa River Wednesday night, in the wake of what appeared to be a suicide attempt. The 33 year old had reportedly jumped from the Meighan Bridge shortly after 9:00pm, where a witness immediately called police.

Emergency personnel quickly arrived to find the woman holding onto a bridge pylon on the East Gadsden side of the river bank.  She was soon pulled from the water and it appeared as though she had only received minor injuries.  She was taken to Riverview Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
