Woman Taken Into Custody Following Standoff with Law Enforcement

ECSO - Camp, GlendaAn Etowah County woman was taken into custody following a standoff with the Joint Operations Group Sunday evening.

According to information contained in a news release from Sheriff Todd Entrekin, Glenda Karen Camp, age 46 of Attalla, has been charged with one count of Domestic Violence 3rd Degree, and one count of Obstructing Government Operations – both felonies.

Camp had allegedly been involved in an argument with another woman – who also resides in the home, and at some point apparently threatened to kill the woman and her son; after Camp loaded a shotgun, the other woman attempted to take it away from her, however she was unable to do so and at that point, fled from the house into a nearby wooded area, where she dialed 9-1-1.

Deputies arrived on the scene, on Unity Church Road in the Duck Springs community, at around 7:00pm with the Joint Operation Group being activated – and Alabama State Troopers providing assistance as well.

Camp was safely removed from the residence about two hours later.

She is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on bond of $2,000.
