Youth Leadership Cherokee Announces Class VIII

Youth Leadership Cherokee 2015-16 041The Youth Leadership Cherokee Advisory Council is pleased to announce the participants for Youth Leadership Cherokee ClassVIII. The following juniors, representing the county high schools, were selected to participate during the 2015-2016 school year:

Cedar Bluff: Josh Decker, Ollina McClellan, Zackery Burt, Mikenzie Gossett, Kiana Dobbins,  

Cherokee County: Ashley Acrey, Colin Edwards, Cade Gossett, Jacob Graves, Mazah Grimes, & Jennifer Proctor

Gaylesville: Jenny Moon, Dillon Harding, Lacey Jo Finley, Austin Slayton, Caitlin Thompson & Rachel Kreh

Sand Rock: Audrey Richardson, Kimberly Whittemire, Laura Phillips, Cara Parker, Race Clausen, & Rachel Kelly

Spring Garden: Kaitlyn Rogers, Ben Ivey, Ann Marie Stone, Savannah Dempsey, Hannah Rhinehart, & Hayden Penton,

Youth Leadership Cherokee 2015-16 062YLC meets the first Tuesday of each month from October – April. Programs to be explored include City/County Government, Education, Healthcare, Community Service,and Economic Development. A graduation ceremony concludes the program year.

The students were selected after completing an application and in some cases an interview. Students must have maintained an 80 average in core curriculum subjects, have a history of acceptable attendance and behavior. They also must have shown involvement in extracurricular activities, honors and awards and community service. There is no cost to the students to participate.

The Cherokee Electric Cooperative, Cherokee Medical Center, Gadsden State Community College, KTH Leesburg Products, and Regions Bank.

Advisory Council members include:

Suzanne Bishop, Corey Colbert, Kurt Duryea, Thereasa Hulgan, Mickie Kerr, Johna Lindsey and Joy Perry serves as Program Director.

As a program of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, YLC is designed to identify, prepare and build leadership resources within Cherokee County.
