Montgomery, Alabama –Dec. 8, 2015 – Investigators from the United Nations came to Alabama Friday and launched “a major assault on Alabama laws protecting children,” according to Alabama State Auditor Jim Zeigler.

He says three UN investigators held a meeting in Montgomery Friday, investigating Alabama restrictions on abortions, lack of contraceptives for youth, and prosecution of illegal drug use by pregnant mothers. The investigators met at Reproductive Health Services of Montgomery which is an abortion clinic.

Zeigler says the investigators heard from Dr. Willie Parker who performs abortions in Montgomery. Also attending the meeting was ACLU Alabama attorney, Lucia Hormo. The investigative team is expected to issue their findings and recommendations for Alabama on Dec. 11th in Washington D.C.

Statement from Jim Zeigler:

“Notice they did not meet with any church leaders, adoption advocates, or abortion alternative counselors,”, Zeigler said. “The U.N. may be preparing to try to dictate to Alabama what we must do on abortion, contraceptives given to youth, sex education in schools, tolerance of alternative sexual orientation and other ‘progressive’ issues.”

“I will monitor this developing situation and report back. I will also coordinate a strategy for how we can resist this UN intrusion. We should not just sit back and say they have no jurisdiction and cannot do it. They don’t care and will proceed anyway if not smartly opposed. I have no confidence in our President and Governor to block their agenda. We citizens need to proactively oppose this dangerous UN intrusion,” Zeigler said.

Zeigler said “the investigative team was organized in Washington D.C. on Nov. 30th. The Alabama investigation was their first stop. The team will only go to two other states, Texas and Oregon. There is a compelling reason UN investigators came to Alabama first, and it is not that we are first alphabetically,” Zeigler said. “They are targeting Alabama’s restrictions on abortions and our protections for babies born addicted to illegal drugs.”

One of the investigators called the abortion restrictions “the regional plague”. It is clear that the United Nations does not respect or understand the values of Alabama.

Mike Rogers x3Across East Alabama, many of you may agree with me that the United States’ participation with the United Nations (U.N.) should end immediately.

The U.N. continues to prove it’s an inefficient bureaucracy and a complete waste of American tax dollars.

Although the United States makes up almost a quarter of the U.N.’s annual budget, the U.N. has attempted a number of actions that attack our rights as U.S. citizens.

To name a few, these initiatives  include actions like the Law of the Sea Treaty, which would subject our country to internationally-based environmental mandates, costing American businesses more money, or the U.N.’s work to re-establish an international regulation regime on global warming which would heavily target our fossil fuels.

The U.N. has also offered a potential Arms Trade Treaty which would threaten our Second Amendment rights and impose regulations on our gun manufacturers, who are already facing regulations and pressure from the Obama Administration

Lastly, the U.N. does not support Israel and voted to grant the Palestinian Authority “non-member state” permanent observer status.

Anyone who is not a friend to our ally Israel, is not a friend to the United States.

Because of these actions among others, I introduced H.R. 1205, the American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2015.

My legislation would end our country’s participation in the U.N. and any organizations affiliated with them.

Why should the American taxpayer bankroll an international organization that works against America’s interests around the world?  The time is now to restore and protect American sovereignty and get out of the United Nations.

As always, I want to hear from you on this or any issue.
