Additional information has now been released regarding a serious accident, involving an 18 wheeler and a community corrections vehicle during the early morning hours of Tuesday in Guntersville.
That accident took place shortly after 2:30am at the intersection of Highways 431 and 69; it was initially believed that there were nine people in the corrections vehicle, however it was soon determined that there was actually a total of 12 occupants inside, at the time the crash occurred; they were reportedly returning to Marshall County Community Corrections, from their place of work.
Officials say the 18 wheeler had failed to stop at a flashing red light on Highway 69, leading to the crash.
Authorities say everyone in the corrections van was hurt, with nine of the individuals being treated and released; of the remaining three two were listed in serious condition and one in critical condition.
The names of those involved have yet to be released.
