18 Wheeler VS Car Accident Followed by Crash of Second 18 Wheeler / UPDATED

There was a two-vehicle accident involving an 18 wheeler and a passenger vehicle Tuesday morning about 9:15. 

That accident took place on Highway 35 at 273 around eight miles north of Gaylesville with one person receiving minor injuries in the crash. 

The truck driver was listed on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency accident report, as 32 year old Daniel Hobbs of Cartersville, Georgia, driving a 2014 Freightliner – while the driver of the car, a 2013 Volkswagen, was listed on reports as being 20 year old Madeline Penny, a resident of Rockmart, Georgia; Hobbs was unhurt; meanwhile, Penny was treated for what appeared to be only minor injuries.

A short while later, at approximately 10:20am another 18 wheeler which was coming down the mountain was unable to stop when coming up on the initial accident scene and went off the roadway, coming to rest on its side.

The 2006 Volvo was being driven by 44 year old Larry McDonald, who was unhurt; but the passenger in the truck, 48 year old Rodney McDonald was listed as being injured; according to witnesses, he appeared to suffer only minor injuries.  Both men are from Florence.

Both accidents remain under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
