17 Year Old Leesburg Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Wreck In May, 2015

AustinCadeGriffithA 17 year old Leesburg teen has been charged with Manslaughter and Assault 2nd Degree in connection with a traffic accident that killed a 30 year old Leesburg resident in May of 2015.

Austin Cade Griffith was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center just after 10:00 Thursday morning on charges of Manslaughter and Assault 2nd Degree, he was released just after 2:00 that afternoon after posting a $35,000 bond.

Although he is listed as being 18 on the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department website, WEIS Radio News has learned that Griffith is actually 17 and will not turn 18 until September but is being charged as an adult in the case.

The accident took place on May 15th of 2015 on Keener Drive in Leesburg and claimed the life of 30 year old Brandi Nicole Lawson.

The accident was investigated by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agencies Traffic Homicide Unit, more information will be released as it is available.
