iStock/Thinkstock(SALISBURY, N.C.) — A 2-year-old girl died after she was left in a hot car while her mother went to work. Authorities are investigating why the child was left in the vehicle for nearly nine hours.
The mother went to work just before 8 a.m. at the North Carolina VA Medical Center on Thursday according to a Salisbury Post report. The child was left in the car seat with the windows rolled up while sitting in the sun. She was discovered at 4:37 p.m.
The girl was pronounced dead after a police officer reportedly broke a window to get her.
Authorities have not identified anyone involved in the tragedy.
