2014 Election Qualifying Ends

Qualifying for the 2014 Elections concluded at 5 Friday afternoon.

Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie has qualified to run for Cherokee County Revenue Commissioner.

He will face Dustin St. Clair in the Republican Primary.

The winner will face Incumbent Democrat John A. Roberts, who also qualified.

For Cherokee County Board of Education, Place 5 – B.J. Major, Brian Jennings, Philip Boyd and Rhett Walker all qualified as Republicans while Lanny Starr has qualified as a Democrat.

Incumbent Lisa McKissick did not qualify.

For Cherokee County Commission District 2, Incumbent Democrat Kimball Parker will face a challenge from Republican Troy Patterson.

Incumbent Democrat Carlton Teague is unopposed in District 4.

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver will also face no opposition and will get another term in office.

For District Judge, Incumbent Democrat Sheri Carver will face a challenge from Republican Wes Mobley.

And for Cherokee County Coroner, Jeremy Deaton, a Republican, was the only qualifier.

In the State Legislative races, Democrat Richard Lindsay has qualified for another term for the State House in District 39.

Republican Heath Jones also qualified for the seat.

For State Senate in District 10, Incumbent Republican Phil Williams has qualified. He will face a challenge from Democrat Larry Means in November.

And in District 13, Incumbent Gerald Dial will face a challenge in the Republican Primary from Tim Sprayberry.

Darrell Turner also qualified as a Democrat for that State Senate seat.

The Primary Election will be on June the 3rd. Runoffs, if needed, will be July 15th.

The General Election is November the 4th.
