2nd Annual VEX Robotics Competition Held At GSCC Cherokee Arena

IMG_1501The 2nd annual Cherokee County VEX Robotics competition drew a crowd to the Gadsden State Cherokee Arena Saturday morning.

Keith Tolbert, Electronics Teacher at the Cherokee County Career and Technology Center was very happy with the turnout and proud of the work that his students poured into this year’s event – Tolbert told WEIS Radio News that some of the students worked well into the early morning hours on Friday programming and preparing for the competition.

IMG_1512The Career and Tech Center once again teamed up with Jacksonville State University for the event – with personnel from Team JSU serving as judges this year.

The VEX Robotics Design System offers students a platform for learning about areas rich with career opportunities spanning science, technology, engineering, math and more.

IMG_1522Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups.

IMG_1527Tolbert along with Instructor Randy Rainey and Tech School Principal Brett Keasler offered a special word of thanks to all who has supported the students and for once again helping the make the event a success.
