Cherokee County School Board Approves Refinance Of Two Bonds

The Cherokee County Board of Education held a ‘Special Called Meeting’ on Tuesday, during that meeting the board approved the refinance of two bonds issued in 2007 & 2008; Representative Brad Green with Raymond James explains;

That will be money that the school board can use for additional projects in the future. The payments on those bonds will virtually remain the same as the original payments.

In other business, the board approved the renewal of Alabama Trust for Boards of Education General Liability/Errors & Omissions Liability Fund Participation and approved the renewal of the 2017/2018 renewal of the Alabama Trust of Boards of Education Auto Funds Participation.

Approved personnel items include;

  • Certified Placement – Paul R. Bishop, English Teacher at Cherokee County High School – effective August 28.
  • Classified Placement – Amanda Thompson, County-wide Special Ed Paraprofessional with Bus-Aide responsibilities – effective September 5, (pending background clearance)
  • Homebound Contract – Wendy Moon, effective August 25.

  • 21st Century Paraprofessional for Extracurricular Activities, Countywide
  • CNP Manager – (tentative posting) – Sand Rock School
  • CNP Assistant Manager – (tentative posting) – Sand Rock School

The next regular meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education will be September 7th at 6:00 p.m. with a budget hearing at 5:00 p.m. at the Central Board Office in Centre and as always the meetings are open to the public.
