A 36 year old Gadsden man is now behind bars charged with drug trafficking and the illegal possession of a firearm.
On Tuesday, the Etowah County Joint Operations group, Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Northeast Alabama Safe Streets Task Force and Decatur Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence located on South 14th Street. During the search, those agents recovered approximately 1,100 grams of salvia and an AK-47.
Edward Elijah Brown was taken into custody on charges of Trafficking Salvia and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Violent Felon. Two juveniles were also present in the residence at the time. An investigation stemming from an armed bank robbery in Decatur on June 25th led agents to that address. Brown is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond and is awaiting extradition to Morgan County to face charges related to the bank robbery.
The investigation is on-going and additional charges could be forthcoming.
