Coming off a 12-2 decision against Class 3A powerhouse Hokes Bluff on Tuesday, the Class 2A Spring Garden Panthers (18-10) moved up a spot to No. 3 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association baseball rankings. The latest poll was released early Thursday morning.

The Panthers were the only area team to see their stock improve from last week. Piedmont (22-4) remained at No. 2 in the Class 3A baseball rankings. Class 4A Cherokee County (14-12) and Class 2A Sand Rock (12-8) continue to receive consideration.

In softball, Spring Garden (16-5) and Sand Rock (16-13-1) hold steady at No. 8 and No. 9 respectively in the Class 2A poll. Class 4A Cherokee County (13-9) and Class 3A Collinsville (10-10-1) received consideration.
