Yet another 18 wheeler has made an unplanned stop at Joe’s Truck Stop in Ft Payne.

WEIS Radio News spoke with Ft Payne Fire Chief Ron Saferite regarding the accident.

At approximately 8:40am Monday the big rig was coming into Ft Payne on Highway 35, and rather than running directly into the wall at the foot of the mountain the driver managed to swerve slightly to the left and jump the bank, partially deflecting the impact – however that led to the truck snapping a power pole at the corner of Highway 35 and 5th Avenue prior to hitting a house, causing minor damage to the structure. 

The 18 wheeler received considerable damage in the crash; fortunately, both the driver and a passenger in the sleeper compartment were able to walk away unharmed.
