Additional Information Released on Fatal Head-On Collision at Cherokee/Etowah County Line on Monday

Additional information has finally been released by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency regarding the fatal head-on collision at the Cherokee/Etowah County line, on Monday, April 9th.

According to the accident report that crash involved a 2003 Mack Dump Truck driven by 85 year old Calvin Kerr of Rome, Georgia and a 2003 Isuzu being driven by 66 year old Bernice Gibbs Harper of a Collinsville address.  Harper was fatally injured; meanwhile Kerr apparently suffered what appeared to be minor injuries according to witnesses at the scene.  According to the report both driver’s had been wearing their seat belts.

The wreck took place around 2:10 that afternoon on U.S. 411 just inside the Etowah County line.

No additional information is being released at this time.

That accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
