The Alabama Department of Public Health data released early Tuesday morning showed an increase of more than 1,600 COVID-19 cases.
Of the 1,616 new cases, 1,229 were confirmed with the remaining 387 listed as “presumed” – thus far, the state has experienced a total of 220,848 cases since March 13th. Of those cases 38% were among people 25 to 49 and 21% were between the ages of 50 and 64; 17% were older than 65; 14% were ages 18 to 24; 9% ages 5 to 17 and 2% age four and under. Deaths, however – were overwhelmingly those ages 65 and older, accounting for 77% of all COVID fatalities in the state. You can see all death demographics here.
As of Tuesday, the state had 1,262 people hospitalized with coronavirus.
