ADPH Says Alabama Adds Just Under 1,000 New Cases of Coronavirus Between Tuesday and Wednesday

The Alabama Department of Public Health numbers released on Wednesday, August 19th – showed an increase of 969 cases of coronavirus statewide, bringing the cumulative total to 106,784 with the death toll from COVID-19 climbing to a total of 1,876 since March 13th of this year.

Cherokee County has so far seen a total of 313 confirmed cases with another 36 being listed as “probable” and one death being attributed to the illness, bringing the total to eight – with one other listed as “probable” in that category. 

Out of the 612 tests being administered locally over the past 14 days there were 56 positive results.

Numbers in neighboring counties are as follows:

Calhoun – 2,028 confirmed cases with 23 deaths;

Cleburne – 164 confirmed cases with 1 death;

DeKalb – 1,944 confirmed cases with 14 deaths;

Etowah – 2,377 confirmed cases with 36 deaths.

The total number of people, who at one point had to be hospitalized, stands at 13,080.

The number of presumed recoveries statewide currently stands at 41,523.
