Agnes Moon Sprayberry

Agnes Moon Sprayberry, age 84 of Gadsden, formerly of Centre, passed away January 28th at UAB.

Funeral services will be 11:AM Thursday, January 31st at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Pollard and Rev. Eugene Burgess officiating; burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include Bill Trammell, Kenneth Dobbs, Joe Hall, Tommy McDaniel, Joe Atkins, Michael Walker, Kenny Walker, and Randy Baker.

Mrs. Sprayberry was born January 12, 1935 to Perry Holmes Moon and Muriel Eubanks Moon. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Sprayberry attended Jacksonville University where she obtained a teaching degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Alexis, Hardin and Spring Garden schools in Cherokee County. On December 22, 1956 she married Robert Edward Sprayberry. They were married until his death in 1993. Together they had one daughter, Beth Sprayberry (Rod) Ferguson of Gadsden. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Laney Boman (Torey Smith) of Gallant, Brittani (Brian) Abernathy of Centre, and Rick Ferguson of Evanston, Illinois; great grandson, Isaac Abernathy and great granddaughter Molly Ferguson. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lucy (Kenneth) Dobbs of Centre, and Linda Montgomery of Rome, GA, Patsy Sprayberry of Rome, GA and brother in law, Charles (Helen) Sprayberry of Calhoun, GA and a host of nieces and nephews, chosen daughter Becky Matthews Smith. Mrs. Sprayberry was preceded in death by her brother, William Luther Moon.

She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove WMU.
