Alabama Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Georgia Crash

Dewey Green

Police say an Alabama man is being held without bond in a fatal Douglas County crash.

Douglasville Police Chief Chris Womack says 23-year-old Dewey Calhoun Green of Pelham, Alabama repeatedly rear ended a car being driven by 53-year-old Janice Pitts Wednesday.

Womack says Green hit the woman and pinned her between the two vehicles when she got out of her car to check for damage. Authorities say the man then ran her over and tried fleeing the scene but was detained by witnesses.

Green is charged with murder, aggravated assault and battery.

Womack says authorities don’t believe the incident was linked to road rage and investigators don’t think Green and Pitts knew each other.
It’s unclear if Green has an attorney.
