Alabama Post Office Locations Will be Open Reduced Hours on Christmas Eve

Post Office Santa 1Alabama Post Offices will be open Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24th and New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31st.

Some Post Office locations will shorten retail lobby hours and close earlier than usual these dates. Regular mail delivery will be unaffected by the change.

Revised hours will be posted at each Alabama Post Office.

WEIS Radio News spoke with Centre Postmaster Tracey Bibbs and she told us that the front window will be open Thursday from 8:30 – 11:30am AND afterwards, if you need to pick up a package someone will be there to help you until 4:30 that afternoon – simply knock on the window.

Customers can also find information regarding local operating hours by visiting the website www.usps.com under “Find USPS Locations.”

Blue collection boxes with final collection times before 12:00pm, won’t be affected by these changes. However, all collection boxes with final collection times scheduled after that may be collected early, therefore mail should be deposited into the mailboxes by 12:00pm for an early pickup on December 24th and December 31st.

Customers requiring postal services later on those days are encouraged to contact their local Post Office. Customers also may call 1.800.ASK.USPS for additional information.

Alabama Post Offices will be closed Friday, December 25th and Friday, January 1st.

Only Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

All Post Offices will be open with regular mail delivery resuming on December 26th, and on January 2nd.
