Alabama Unemployment Rate Drops Slightly

Alabama’s unemployment rate is doing better but employers are still having trouble hiring. Alabama’s unemployment rate dipped to 3.1% in September. The Alabama Department of Labor said that is slightly better than numbers in August.

That’s good news because it means 470 people found work. Alabama opted out of extended federal unemployment benefits over the summer.

Cherokee County’s rate for the month of September stands at 4.4%, Calhoun at 7.7%, DeKalb at 4.7%, and Etowah County at 8.3%

Some of the cities with the highest unemployment rates were Selma at 8.7%, Prichard at 6.9% and Anniston at 6.1%.
