An attorney in Albertville has been arrested for four counts of possession of child pornography.

Steven Vincent Smith, 52 of Albertville,  was arrested around 7:30 a.m. Friday.

A search warrant was executed by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

During the search, several electronic media devices were recovered and an on scene preview was performed.

Albertville Police Chief Doug Pollard says they assisted with the arrest.

Smith was transferred to the Marshall County Jail on a one million dollar bond.

He is also a fill-in municipal judge for the City of Albertville.

Albertville residents were in disbelief after the arrest.

“If you have to pick on an innocent child it’s very disturbing,” said resident James Carmean. “We’ve never had any problems here, the assistant police chief lives in the area. Actually right by the person.”

Neighbors said it’s shocking to hear what happened to what they thought was a normal neighbor.

“The last thing you expect to see is a swarm of officers of various kinds across the street from you,” said a neighbor who wished to remain anonymous.
