An Albertville man was picked up at a Cherokee County motel Thursday morning – on an escape warrant out of Marshall County.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, 24 year old Robert Martin Leath was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center just after 10:00am and later released into the custody of Marshall County authorities.
Centre Police Officers acting on a tip, went to the Centre Motel in search of the six-foot-four 300 pound suspect; Leath gave himself up without incident.
The warrants, for escape second degree and escape third degree, were signed October 15th by the Community Corrections Department out of Marshall County; we are still awaiting word from the authorities there regarding what charges Leath was originally jailed on.
