Emergency crews were called to the Overlook Condos on West Chattooga Drive in Cedar Bluff on Monday afternoon after a resident at the location called Cherokee County 911 and reported a possible explosion inside one of the units, the initial call stated that there was also a smell of gas and a possible partial roof collapse.
Firefighters from Cedar Bluff, Gaylesville and Centre immediately evacuated the building and began a search of the property. Firefighters located a spot where a small roof over a patio had collapsed causing damage.
Centre Fire Chief Jeremy Lee said that Firefighters saw no evidence of any sort of an explosion. DC Gas crews, Cherokee Electric crews, Cherokee EMA and Floyd EMS Medics were also called to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
