Anniston Man Charged with Attempted Murder

An Anniston man has been charged with attempted murder – after he allegedly attacked a patient he was sharing a room with at Regional Medical Center.

According to the Anniston Star, 23 year old Devonte Raynard Arnold was arrested Monday night after police officers were called to the hospital following the incident.

Police Captain Allen George told the Star that hospital staff members went to the room at around 11:30 that night after hearing unusual noises. They arrived to find the 47 year old victim lying on the floor with blood coming from his head, nose and mouth; the man was being treated by RMC staff members when police arrived.

Arnold was soon found in a room across from the nurse’s station.

Police declined to say how they knew Arnold was the one responsible; they did say they have yet to determine a reason for the attack.

The victim was airlifted to UAB, where, at last word, he remained in the intensive care unit listed in critical condition.

Arnold is being held without bond and has a court date of October 21st.
