Anniston Police are investigating the death of an Anniston resident as a possible homicide.
The Anniston Star is reporting that Deputy Coroner Dudley Miller was called at around 1:00pm Monday to the 2200 block of Parkwood Drive, where an individual had been found dead.
Miller told the Star that the victim – 39 year old Casey Lynn Payne – had died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Anniston Police Captain Allen George said that the wound to Payne’s chest was from a shotgun; he also said the victim did not live at the residence where the body was found.
George said no additional information is being released at this time.
