Hometown Headlines: www.johndrunkenmiller.com

After nearly five hours of clean-up, both lanes of Highway 411 westbound near Hine Road are now open on Saturday evening. According to Floyd County Police, a tractor-trailer carrying 47,000 lbs. of frozen chicken overturned around 2 p.m. Saturday shutting down both lanes of highway to traffic. One lane was reopened around 5 p.m and the other opened around 7 p.m.

According to Sgt. Penny with Floyd County Police, the truck was traveling eastbound when the driver attempted to make a U-turn at Hines Road. The truck’s weight shifted causing it to roll over on its side down the embankment. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital to be check-out, but she appeared to be uninjured.

Floyd County Police and prison work crews had to quickly clean-up the chicken. A lot of the meat was donated to New Beginnings Ministries.
